Somatic bodywork is an important element of somatic work. Its about going deeper into the story of the body, the one that might be forgotten. Its rebuilding trust in nervous system, reminding it that touch can be healing, and we can heal in body connection.
Somatic bodywork is usually an element of 1:1 longer work with a person, next to practices and conversation, but it can also be used on its own, as a different way to approaching the soma.
"Our bodies tell stories. Our muscles hold memories. Somatic Bordywork allows us to listen to and transform the shaping that no longer serves us, opening up more choice and possibility. The opening allows our new practices to take root more deeply within us, making them more sustainable, and more reliable under pressure."
Bodywork is hard to describe.
It's a deep experience that is guided by the wisdom of the body of the receiver.
It's a study of aliveness, where is it less present in the body and how does it do that.
Sometimes it is a moment of reconnection with oneself, sometimes a time travel, sometimes discovering with own energy.
Below you will find some elements of what to expect:
-hands-on, clothes-on work with the soma
-session that involves touch, breath pattern, movement and conversation
-making more space with tissues for the aliveness to flow
-meeting and acknowledging the story and the shaping that lives in the soma and allows for it survival
-re-establishing agency and consent to nervous system, adjusting to current state of the body
-working with armouring bands and contractions that live in our bodies, that are sometimes in the way of our longings
-touch practice with its roots in Wilhelm Reich's body approach, polarity therapy and osteopathy (that has Indigenous First Nations roots)
